He has one older sister and one younger sister, all of them come to the Choice school by the Choice water truck. His mother passed away about 2 years ago and his father doesn’t take care of them since he has another wife now. The three of them stay in one hut and are looked after by their old grandma. Devid doesn’t have much free time as he studies a half day at Choice school and another half at government school. Devid is learning to type on a Qwerty keyboard. He can type in English without looking at the keyboard and is also learning how to type Khmer language by using the same English keyboard. He has to memorise which English letter represents each Khmer letter. A challenging skill to learn but very useful for him. There are a lot more letters in Khmer than English, 33 consonants and 26 vowels, so he has to learn a lot of multiple key combinations!
Devid is a hard working student in his English language class. He likes singing, colouring and playing educational games. When he learns songs from his teacher, he sings them in class louder than most other students. Even though he is not amongst the top students in his class in reading and writing, he follows music really well. He is really happy when his teacher lets him do colouring or playing games at the end of a lesson.
