Being advised to Register and License our Dental Clinic by the Ministry we decided it far better to donate the Dental Chair and associated instruments to “One-2-One” a Cambodian Dental Charity. A properly licensed Khmer NGO that provide Dental care to children through out Cambodia. They have agreed to provide free treatment on two five day visits to our school each year. We are very pleased with this arrangement and thank all those involved in helping to put this together. I also thank Giuseppe and Dr. Jon Paul the original donor from Malaysia, they would be happy to see the chair still being used to help Khmer children.
Many thanks to Evelien and the Khmer staff and management of Pachem Dental Clinic. Fifteen of their dental staff donated their time to care for our people on Saturday the 23rd of November at our center in the province.
Over 100 were examined resulting in 66 treatments, 57 being children 9 adults. A total of 37 teeth were extracted; teeth were cleaned and fillings were done. Follow up work will be conducted by Dr. Evelien Hoedemaker in the coming weeks at our clinic. Our clinic has turned out to be a great success as people that turn up for medical treatment often are there for dental reasons. We can treat them immediately, these people cannot afford a visit to the dentist.
Our first patient at the CHOICE Dental facility is Srey Py shown having a tooth extracted. Dr. Evelien Hoedemaker is the coordinating dentist and alongside in the pink is translator and assistant Sok Heng. Several others were treated today, 7th September 2013 they were all adults.
We have built an area at the CHOICE Center for the children to brush their teeth. Includes mirrors, soap and combs which are very popular as well. Volunteers are pictured here helping the younger children to brush their teeth after lunch.
We intend to shift the sewing room into here and utilize the front room for our medical clinic, German classroom and hopefully install a dental chair for volunteer dentists.
